I am Sabine.

Imagine...

Golden eyes, wells of deep honey veered toward the night sky. A blanket of mist shrouds the surrounding forest. Fireflies dance and flit through the boughs, encircling the lone witch. Bright candle flames form a consecrated ring as she chants in a dead tongue. Her mind is clear, vivid as she digs her bare nails into the dirt at her knees, carving shapes and sigils. The flames tower with intensity as she continues, a fearsome column of orange aether contrasting the dark of night. The sigils begin to glow. A blazing portal forms as she sways, entranced. The Lord of The Inferno accepts her invitations onto the mortal plane, crossing the border between worlds. He roars as she begins to levitate, seeing through his divine eyes. What power is this?

Evoker

Lone and bereft of care, Sabine was abandoned on a riverbank in the Shroud when she was an infant. She was found by a Crone by the name of Marguerite who sensed Sabine’s arcane potential. As Sabine whined and squirmed in her dinged blanket and tattered garments, Marguerite Obreah navigated the river aboard her houseboat, cooing songs of the old gods and how winter would some day end. Lulled to slumber, her new mentor found a tattered letter taped to the child’s shirt.  It spoke of her true parents, an insurmountable debt to a brigand band known as ‘The Jokers’, and a heartfelt request that any who find the child would advise her in the ways of the Shroud.Sabine would not learn about her true parents until she was well into adulthood, on Marguerite’s deathbed. Marguerite would leave Sabine a small box, enchanted with an imprisonment spell, and a bronze staff that Marguerite revealed was at Sabine’s side all those years ago near the river. The box’s spell would not dissipate until Sabine’s twenty-first name day. She opened it to find a letter from Marguerite and what Sabine would later learn was a Summoner’s soul stone. Marguerite informed Sabine that she was the last of their coven and requested she left the forest to seek out an Admiral in Ul’dah named Ilum Obreah, her estranged son. She assured Sabine that her son would know how to help her tap into the potential of the stone.Unfortunately, Sabine’s anger about her past and circumstance overpowered her better judgment. She vowed to avenge her parents. She continued practicing the root work, conjury, and folk magic instilled in her by her adopted mother, slowly gaining strength. Furthermore, she took mercenary work, sold her skills as a painter and medicine woman to keep her coffers full. She would never find the culprits. Years of searching led her back to the path Marquerite intended for her.Sabine found her brother exactly where the letter mentioned. Ilum was a stubborn brute who harbored resentment toward his mother for not leaving the Shroud when he beckoned her to come with him to Thanalan. He was skeptical Sabine was telling the truth until she showed him the stone. With his blessing, Sabine joined the Summoner’s sect of the Immortal Flames. She would see the tribes summon versions of the old gods Marguerite sang of. Her blessing of the echo proved a double-edge blade. She resisted tempering, but saw many of her fellow soldiers and innocents succumb.Sabine funneled her grief into studying her soul stone. Once she mastered the sacred geometry of her egis and demi-primals, she began inscribing and copying the shapes onto her mother’s staff. Henceforth, she would evoke her summons using the relic, a fact that achieved stares and whispers from her peers. Sabine would grow to become a Master Summoner, even helping to teach new recruits.Accompanied by many slanderous rumors, Sabine would eventually distance herself from the Immortal Flames, convinced she had a higher calling to use her power elsewhere. Void fissures were appearing all over the star, The Jokers still needed to be located and disbanded, she had venues and places she longed to see with her own eyes, a feat achievable only by the wanderlust of a true adventurer.

Hooks

1.The Cunningfolk -
Despite her status as a veteran of the Immortal Flames, Sabine does most of her ‘good deeds’, hooded, veiled, in the guise of a pauper. Many lowborn have seen or witnessed hearsay of the witch with ‘golden eyes’. They seek her out for healing, fertility spells, blessings, charms, food, and exorcisms. They say she is blessed by the goddess of lions, the deity of the sun, Azeyma. It is rumored that if you encounter her and whisper ‘Green and gold are my favorite colors.’ she’ll reward you with a charm.
2. The Paintress -
Sabine’s has made a name for herself illustrating paintings of Eorzea’s landscapes. She has also been known to aid detectives and law enforcement agencies with sketch art of their culprits. Perhaps, you have seen her in public with her easel, designing her next piece and want to share your thoughts. Or, maybe you would like to acquire some of her work for your own?
3. In Good Standing -Despite her no longer being in the active military, she is well respected as an experienced summoner across Eorzea. She still visits the active members to bring meals, to accept contracts to assist when the Flames are short-handed, or simply to admire the progress of those she’s mentored. While rare, Sabine will don her formal summoner’s attire while visiting the major cities. Perhaps, you have work or a contract of your own that you need assistance with. Sabine is always looking for work!

OOC

I am a veteran roleplayer that has been writing in various, multi-platform settings since the AOL days of olde, ranging from casual player to DM’ing my own Discord setting. I am mostly inspired by medieval, grimdark, dystopian, southern gothic settings. Collaborative fiction is a creative outlet I am very passionate about. It shows in my writing. It also motivates me to be very discerning about my long-term roleplay partners.    I love mythology and folklore.    Born and raised in Louisiana, I have an eclectic appreciation for diverse cultures and all things magic. Please understand the difference between OOC and IC, more importantly how to distinguish the two. I’m here for the immersion. Mutual respect of boundaries is not optional. Let’s chat beforehand if you believe your RP hook might graze that line.    I will not engage in scenes that lead to permanent death for my character.     More importantly, I do understand IC actions have IC consequences and will abide by this community rule otherwise.I am usually online in the evenings between 7p.m. EST and 2 a.m. EST. On Tuesdays and Sundays, I will typically be on longer. I do have Discord upon request if you prefer to arrange meeting times and flesh out themes there beforehand. I will admit, however, I am terrible at keeping up with Discord RP. I strongly prefer to write in-game to ensure I am respecting your time and that you have my full attention.     I also divide my time between multiple MMOs, including: ESO, WoW, BDO, GW2, Summoners War: Chronicles.    I can confidently say, XIV is the only setting I currently RP in.While I am not opposed to romantic plots, please do not approach or ask to write with my OCs strictly for ERP purposes. I will politely decline. I will not under any circumstance write with minors. Players 21 and older are my comfort zone.    Absolutely no bleedover of romantic IC to OOC.     I will discontinue writing if that happens.
